It is my opinion that you need to chalk up the weeding to a learning experience. It would be stunningly tacky to come back now and ask for more money.

In order to prevent this misunderstanding in the future you need to treat this as the job that it is and have a written contract in place. It doesn't have to be fancy. It can be on a piece of notebook paper. You write down exactly what yard jobs you are going to perform for her and exactly what you expect to be paid. You sign it and she signs it. Then there are no misunderstandings or hurt feelings.

hey 100 dollars per 8hour day of hard, semi skilled labor is NOT too much to ask, so if you want to ask 50 per day, please believe me that's not too much. You cannot work for too little money, it sucks for everyone involved. You won't be happy then you wont do a good job then she wont be happy blah blah…. You should not ever go lower than 50 per day, if you're working really hard. And don't be manipulated bc those old ladies know the economy better than us! They know what it's worth and they try to play it down so we accept less money. Just to let you know, when I weed for 8hours I charge 200 dollars, but I can weed fast bc I've done it a lot. Removing a 12 foor citrus tree, about 45. Digging up a pipe you can do pretty quick so not much, it's best to give her a price for your work for 8 hours, not part by part of hte job. It's easy to say "70 per full 8 hour day" or 60 or whatever you think, but don't agree to do stuff for a certain price that will mess you up. Just say you'll work really hard for the time you're working

labor per day in my place is paid a minimum $4.00 per 8 hours of work…
but if you want to be nice, try to sum up your number of hour spent in working and estimate if it is reasonable to charge that certain amount.

Go to school and take classes in horticulture, greenhouse and turf management, landscape design and construction, etc. Find out what part interests you. Get a part time job at a large local garden center/nursery while you're going to school to get some real life experience.
